Winery cooling with Seeley International solutions
Reduce Angel's Share with proper temperature and humidity control, using evaporative cooling
Winery cooling
Seeley International’s Winery Cooling Units provide a sustainable, energy-efficient solution designed to maintain the delicate balance of temperature and humidity that is essential for a winery’s sensitive environment. Wineries require precise control over these factors to preserve the integrity of the wine, reduce the “angel’s share”, and ensure the correct fermentation of wine.
These advanced cooling systems are specifically tailored to meet the needs of wineries, offering exact control over temperature and humidity levels. By installing a fixed cooling system, you create a stable, controlled environment that protects the aging process and preserves the quality of your wine.
Maintaining the right conditions not only ensures the correct fermentation of the product but also minimizes energy consumption, reducing costs and your environmental footprint.
Discover how Seeley International’s cooling solutions can optimize your winery’s operations, improve wine quality, and support a more sustainable business model.

Benefits for Winery Cooling
Prevents Angel’s Share: Climate Wizard maintains temperature and humidity, reducing angel’s share and improving wine quality.
Energy Efficiency: Lowers energy consumption and utility costs compared to traditional cooling systems, making it an economical choice.
Cost-Effective:
Demands little maintenance and ensures low operational costs, offering a cost-effective way to maintain optimal conditions in your winery.
Eco-Friendly: Utilizes water and natural airflow to cool the space, reducing environmental impact and supporting your winery’s sustainability initiatives.
Enhanced Wine Quality: Indirect evaporative cooling maintains consistent temperature and humidity levels allowing wineries to minimise the evaporation of wine and preserve its character and quality.
Minimise yield loss to evaporation - "Angel's Share"
Angel’s share is a term used in the wine industry to describe the natural evaporation of wine from oak barrels during aging. This phenomenon can have a significant impact on the volume and quality of the wine, leading to decreased profitability for wineries. However, proper climate control in barrel halls can help reduce the negative impact of angel’s share. When installed in barrel halls, Climate Wizard indirect evaporative cooling maintains consistent temperature and humidity levels allowing wineries to minimise the evaporation of wine and preserve its character and quality.
As a result, wineries can experience a reduction in angel’s share, increased efficiency and improved product quality.

Premium quality evaporative cooling solutions by Seeley International are perfect for cellar and winery cooling
Harness the power of Evaporative cooling
Levantine Hill Estate case study
Levantine Hill Estate, established in 2009 in the Yarra Valley (Australia), is known for its commitment to winemaking excellence. To maintain the ideal conditions for its 577m² barrel hall, which stores 178,000 liters of wine, the winery required precise climate control.
Seeley International provided the Climate Wizard CW-80S and Smart Wine Controller to maintain a stable temperature of 14°C, 75% humidity, and safe CO2 levels. The CW-80S model supplies 6,400 L/s of fresh air, ensuring energy efficiency and optimal wine storage conditions, while the Smart Wine Controller integrates with the winery’s BMS for seamless operation.
Evaporative Cooling Applications
Evaporative air conditioning has a wide range of cooling applications
Evaporative cooling provides an excellent solution for cooling wineries, where it’s essential to keep temperature and humidity levels consistent to preserve the quality of the wine and aid in the aging process. This system boosts Indoor Air Quality by delivering 100% fresh, filtered outside air, improving ventilation and reducing levels of CO2 and VOCs. By effectively controlling both temperature and humidity, it creates the ideal environment for wine production and storage, ensuring the best conditions for the wine while also maintaining a comfortable workspace for staff.

The evaporative air conditioning unit offers a cost-efficient cooling solution, perfect for industries, factories, warehouses, and large retail spaces. It delivers effective cooling while consuming up to 80% less energy compared to refrigerated systems, making it particularly beneficial in environments where specific temperature and humidity control is required, especially in areas that manage and store sensitive products like wine and liquors.
This type of cooling is also ideal for a wide range of industries, such as technical cooling, textiles, plastics, pharmaceuticals, and commercial spaces. It significantly improves Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) by providing continuous fresh air circulation, naturally filtering air through cooling pads, and reducing pollutants, dust, and odors. Unlike conventional HVAC systems, evaporative cooling does not recirculate air, which helps avoid the accumulation of harmful gases. As a result, it creates a healthier working environment, improving comfort, alleviating respiratory issues, and boosting worker productivity.

Industrial air conditioning unit Frequently Asked Questions
- Evaporative air conditioners (coolers) are excellent for health
- They supply 100% fresh, filtered air into your building that is not recirculated, improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) of the space, supporting customer and staff well-being
- They remove unhealthy pollution from your indoor environment
- They provide basic moisture that the human body needs
- They remove static electricity; they can assist in reducing the effects of illnesses such as asthma.
A high inlet water temperature does not have a marked effect on the supply temperature of Seeley International’s evaporative air conditioners.
Yes. Outdoor areas have no walls to contain the cool air. These spaces would be impossible to cool using refrigerated air conditioning because this relies on recirculating and reusing air from a sealed area. Evaporative air conditioners (coolers) can easily supply a flow of fresh and cool air to open and semi open areas since the air is exhausted naturally.
In most cases evaporative air conditioners (coolers) marginally increase humidity, keeping in mind that temperature has also dropped significantly. It is the combination of temperature, humidity and airflow that creates human comfort and evaporative air conditioners are used widely around the world because they can create comfortable conditions. For example, 80% humidity and 30°C (86°F) is very uncomfortable, but 80% humidity and 16°C (61°F) is very comfortable. Comfort is also improved by increasing air velocity in hot conditions and evaporative air conditioners create sufficient air movement to minimise the effects of humidity.
Air inside the building collects heat, moisture and impurities and must be exhausted. The evaporative air conditioner (cooler) provides 100% outside air which must be relieved from the building. If the building is sealed, the effectiveness of the cooler(s) will be reduced. Mechanical extraction or even just leaving some doors or windows open helps remove unhealthy air from the indoor environment by supplying 100% fresh, filtered air. For this reason, evaporative air conditioners (coolers) are much healthier than refrigerated air conditioning.
