Wasel Car Testing Facility (RTA)

The problem

Wasel Car testing facility is a state of art vehicle testing facility, a franchisee of RTA (Road & Transport Authority, Government of United Arab Emirates). The facility is used for testing cars and it is a semi-open area. The building previously had no cooling system installed, as traditional air conditioning implies entirely closing the building.

The company found that there was very low productivity, especially during the hot afternoon hours. Staff were frequently getting sick due to dehydration and heat stroke.

The solution: open air cooling system Breezair

When researching air conditioning options, Breezair evaporative cooling was the logical choice due to the semi-open air conditions of the facility. In fact, the building features large openings on both sides.

Ten Breezair TBA 550 units were installed in the Car Testing Facility (595 square metres), two to spot cool each of the five car testing lines, each 4 x 4 metres in area. Plus five Breezair TBA 550 units were installed in the automobile repair and maintenance workstation area, which comprises of five workstations each 57 square metres.

Since Breezair has been installed, staff are much happier and morale has increased. Productivity has also increased and sick leave has been significantly reduced.

Why installing evaporative cooling for semi-open areas?

As Breezair uses 100% fresh outside air, the air needs some way out of the building, to avoid overpressure. This is why when installing evaporative cooling, we recommend keeping doors and windows open or installing extract systems.

In the case of a semi-open building, the extraction is natural. They could not install traditional air conditioning systems, as they rely on recirculating air inside a closed space, to operate efficiently. In this case, evaporative cooling is the perfect solution!
