2011 South Australian of the Year, the founder and Executive Chairman of Seeley International, Frank Seeley AM, is better known for shaving huge amounts off energy bills with the company’s incredibly energy-efficient heating and cooling systems.
Now he’s pledged to take the razor to his beard for the first time in 40 years, to support the Leukaemia Foundation through the World’s Greatest Shave.
“It’s been 40 years since my wife, Kathy, has seen me without a beard, so my first step was to make sure she agreed,” Frank said.
“We decided it was only worth doing if Seeley International could raise an appropriately large amount of money to support the Leukaemia Foundation, so we set the bar high, at $10,000.
“I’m proud to say that we are nearly there, with just a few days to go.
“That’s not a surprise to me, as our dealers, suppliers, staff and other friends are very generous – and very keen to see me without my beard – but I’m delighted to know that we are able to help out such a fantastic cause.
“I am confident that we will easily hit the $10,000 target, so I’m getting ready to say goodbye to my beard, for now, but not forever!” Frank said.
Seeley International, home of iconic brands such as Breezair, Braemar, Coolair, Convair and Climate Wizard, is an ongoing supporter of the Leukaemia Foundation, sponsoring the annual Light the Night event throughout Australia as the Major National Partner, with a commitment to support the cause through to 2013. Light The Night is an inspiring event and an important source of funds to help combat blood cancers, as well as raising public awareness.
“The Leukaemia Foundation is a marvellous organisation, and we continue to support the great work they do in the community to help those that are living with blood cancers such as leukaemia and lymphoma,” Frank said.
